The First Aid at Work course offers a comprehensive two-day training designed for individuals with a current 3-day First Aid at Work certificate who wish to deepen their emergency first aid skills. This course builds on the foundational topics covered in the Emergency First Aid at Work course, providing extended training on a wider variety of injuries and medical conditions. Tailored to meet the needs of lower risk businesses and in compliance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, this training is perfect for staff looking to enhance their first aid capabilities. With a limit of 12 participants, the course ensures personalized attention and effective learning. Upon completion, delegates will receive a certificate confirming that the training meets the required health and safety standards. Please note that while the course is non-accredited, options for accredited training are available upon request.

On completion of the course candidates should be able to:

  • Understand the role of a first aider including reference to:
    ▪ The importance of preventing cross infection;
    ▪ The need for recording incidents and actions;
    ▪ Use of available equipment
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
  • Administer first aid to a casualty that is suffering from shock;
  • Delegates should be able to help a casualty suffering from:
    ▪ A seizure
    ▪ Heart attack (with deliberator training)
    ▪ Anaphylactic shock (practice with a EpiPen)
    ▪ Diabetic emergency
    ▪ Stroke
    ▪ Allergic reactions
  • Delegates should be about to confidently help some who is:
    ▪ Choking
    ▪ Bleeding
    ▪ Burns
    ▪ Head Injuries
    ▪ Joint injuries
    ▪ And much more

Do you have parking available on site? 

We have a limited number of free parking available on site – do give us a call to check availability on the day. Letchworth Garden City Train Station is also a 30 minute walk away for those who are travelling longer distances. 

Will you provide food and drink?

For all day courses we provide drinks and a cold buffet at lunchtime for courses held at our premises. Please let us know ahead of time any dietary requirements so they can be catered for.

The course emphasises the importance of preventing cross infection through training on proper hygiene practices, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling and disposal of contaminated materials. Participants will learn techniques to minimise the risk of infection, ensuring a safe and effective first aid response
