We have a limited number of free parking available on site – do give us a call to check availability on the day. Letchworth Garden City Train Station is also a 30 minute walk away for those who are travelling longer distances.
Will you provide food and drink?
For all day courses we provide drinks and a cold buffet at lunchtime for courses held at our premises. Please let us know ahead of time any dietary requirements so they can be catered for.
How does the CITB Levy work in terms of claiming back money for this course?

What is the CITB SSSTS course in Letchworth?
This is a two-day CITB Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme course delivered at the Letchworth training centre. Designed for site supervisors and first-line managers, it covers legal responsibilities, health and safety law, welfare, environmental issues, and risk management. Upon passing, you’ll receive a CITB SSSTS certificate valid for five years.
Who should attend, and what are the entry requirements?
It’s aimed at people holding or about to take on supervisory responsibilities. Delegates must be competent in English at site supervisor level and bring photographic ID. There’s a minimum age of 16, and under‑18s must bring parental consent.
How is the course assessed, and what score is needed to pass?
Assessment includes a mix of continuous evaluation (group work, presentations, toolbox talk) plus a 30-minute exam with 22 multiple-choice questions and 3 short written ones. You need at least 80% (24/30) and must correctly answer all 4 safety‑critical questions to pass. Re‑sits may be possible if you narrowly miss the mark.
What content is covered over the two days?
Course modules include: UK health and safety law and CDM 2015, Risk assessments and method statements, Toolbox talks, site inductions and leadership, Worker welfare, manual handling, asbestos, noise, dust, emergency procedures, High-risk work: height safety, excavations, lifting, temporary works, electricity, Environmental responsibilities and pollution prevention
Can I get grant funding or levy reimbursement?
Yes. Employers registered with CITB may claim a grant of around £140 per delegate (Tier 2). Provide your CITB Levy registration number at booking or on the first course day.
Is the course available in-person at Letchworth or online?
Safety for Business delivers SSSTS in-person at their Letchworth centre, including materials, CITB certification, lunch and refreshments.
What facilities are provided at the Letchworth centre?
Delegates can expect professional classrooms, refreshments and lunch, CITB course materials, and parking. Group sizes are typically capped at around 20 to encourage engagement.
What happens after completing the course?
You’ll receive a digital CITB SSSTS certificate, valid for five years. To maintain certification, you must take a one-day SSSTS Refresher before expiry. Continued certification supports eligibility for supervisory roles and CSCS card renewal.
