Legislation requires a fire risk assessment to be carried out for all non-domestic and some types of domestic properties. It is the responsibility of the appointed ‘Responsible Person’ to ensure the assessment is suitable and sufficient. Where a business employs five or more persons, the significant findings of the fire risk assessment must be recorded.
How can Safety For Business (UK) Ltd help you?
We can remove the stress of undertaking a fire risk assessment by providing a consultant who is suitably experienced in your specific industry sector. Working with you, our consultants will produce a fire risk assessment report which includes detailed records of the significant findings, a clear and concise action plan detailing actions recommended and a full assessment of risk and hazard areas in the building.

Case Study – Healthcare
A private healthcare company with over 60 hospitals and support buildings were not using a joined up approach to fire strategies and fire risk assessments. Their sites had been left to themselves to achieve compliance and a safe working environment. This had led to differing approaches and substandard outputs.
SFB were approached to put together a strategy to achieve compliance, provide a consistent approach and identify cost saving opportunities.
We set about reviewing the compliance of all sites and then, using a risk based approach, implemented a priority system of strategy development, risk assessments and remedial works. We also worked with a Primary Authority to ensure consistency throughout the portfolio and acceptance by Fire Services across the country.
This ensured all sites became compliant, holding suitable and sufficient fire strategies and fire risk assessments. The fire strategies were designed to be compliant to Building Regulations requirements and also used a ‘sympathetic’ approach to the aging properties owned by the organisation. Adopting this approach led to a reduction in the overall amount of fire stopping and fire doors requiring attention, without the need to compromise on safety.
